Technical Support Engineer (Essex)

Location:        Wickford, Essex (travel to client offices)

Reporting to: Chief Information Technology Officer / Principal Consultants

 

About the role

This is an exciting time and role to join a fast-growing technology consultancy and managed service company, Outbound™. We are not a traditional technology support business, we put all our customers first and customer service (client centric) is a must. 

We pride ourselves on the level service we give to our clients, and this comes through our passion and drive to disruptive this industry.  This role will suit someone with 1st and 2nd experience from a Service Desk but also suit someone that is happy to get stuck in and not just have a role doing 1 activity or discipline. 

 

We are looking for someone that can expand from 1st and 2nd line into 3rd and beyond, someone that is interested in the cloud, wants to learn a new range of skills and technologies and someone that is happy to be involved in project based work.

 

Travel to client sites is a must but should not be 5 days a week, we offer flexible office and home-based working but at least 1-2 days in the office will be required. 

 

Key Responsibilities

Working with the IT Service Desk, our consultants and clients you will be taking up a blend of 1st to 3rd line activities under direction from our consultants.

 

  • Provide escalation for 1st Line support on IT and Service Desk requests.
  • Deal with any issues from the Service Desk
  • Carry out onsite activities for support, installations and troubleshooting where it is not possible to fix remotely
  • Provide ownership and innovation of the Service Desk and enable new features, improvements, and service level agreements.
  • Assist and build all our internal support processes and documentation.
  • Liaise with 3rd party vendors and triage support tickets between them and our customers.
  • Ensure support tickets and incidents are dealt with in a timely manner and within agreed SLA’s.
  • Build and maintain relationships with 3rd party suppliers for services such as IaaS, managed printing and software vendors.
  • Perform computer / server and software installations.
  • Support the ongoing maintenance and stability of IT Services.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and other tasks, often outside of normal business hours.
  • Ensure IT system, standards and procedures are maintained throughout the business.
  • Carry out daily checks of our customers infrastructure, backups and monitoring and action accordingly.
  • Help produce and maintain clear and accurate systems documentation for work undertaken by the IT team and in production of user guidance and instructions.
  • Engage with various IT Projects.
  • Proactively explore new technologies and investigate how they may be utilized with the company.
  • Over time, as we expand we will look to develop a shift pattern to cover a 08:30 – 18:30 operating window with out of hours support as required.
  • Support of Microsoft 365 and our cloud environments.
  • Internal support for our non-technical staff.

 

 

 

About you

  • Solid experience with Microsoft 365, Windows, MacOS, Citrix, telephony and networking.
  • Preferrable experience with Autotask, RMM solutions, Watchguard and various endpoint protection solutions.
  • Knowledge of HP, Lenovo, Dell hardware and technologies.
  • Microsoft certified and ability to carry on with Microsoft and other vender certifications (paid for by us).
  • Experience with ITL and Service Desks.

Knowledge & Experience

IT Skills and knowledge required:

  • 5 years + IT Technologies & Support experience.
  • Strong knowledge of troubleshooting desktop and server hardware faults and issues.
  • Hands on knowledge and experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and above experience.
  • Experience dealing with IT & operational aspects of business mergers and integrations.
  • Knowledge & Experience of AD & O365 integrations with other domains and tenants.
  • Knowledge and experience with Hyper-V and VMWare.
  • Experience with Lenovo, HP technologies, Citrix and thin clients.
  • Knowledge and experiencing using service desk ticketing systems.
  • Experience & knowledge with Azure, M365 & MDM solutions.
  • Experience & knowledge of internet security gateways, email security gateway’s and archiving solutions.
  • Experience with endpoint protection management and monitoring.
  • Knowledge of networking, WAN, LAN and network skills.

Cloud Solutions Architect

As a Cloud Solutions Architect, you are the advocate for cloud adoption. Your solutions need to be cost-effective, scalable, and give your stakeholders not only what they want, but the stability and security they need.

You’ll be responsible for:

    • Introduce and demonstrate the features, benefits, and technical specifications of Azure, Microsoft Cloud, and Hybrid Infrastructures
    • Explore opportunities for expansion where possible and engage other teams and coordinate their resources to assist
    • Assess opportunities, understand business requirements, and design effective solutions with Microsoft Azure
    • Ensure accurate documentation of HLDs, SoWs, and RFP responses
    • Meet technology and solutions partners and vendors to build relationships, keep up to date with developments of current and future technology
    • Meet prospective clients in a courteous, friendly, and relatable manner, demonstrating Outbound’s capabilities
    • Assist with the smooth handover of projects to the delivery teams and act as an escalation point during their life and transition into service
    • Maintain up to date information in Outbound’s internal CRM system
    • Build relationships across the business, including with Sales,

What you’ll need

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Hybrid Infrastructure solutions and their adoption, with a proven ability to use this to deliver outcomes
  • Real-world knowledge of Azure IaaS services and a high-level understanding of how to position further transformation towards PaaS and SaaS services
  • Ability to lead clients through a cloud journey that delivers tangible benefit quickly whilst maximising the scope and potential of an engagement
  • Commercial acumen with an awareness of the financial implications of design decisions across Capex and Opex budgets
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and deal with competing demands while maintaining an eye for quality and detail

Network and Telephony Consultant

The Network and Telephony Engineer implements and maintains the Network and Telephony Infrastructure in accordance with the IT initiatives of the company.

What you’ll do:

  • Operate as part of a 24x7x365 on-call rota.
  • Provide a point of technical escalation and expertise.
  • Maintain technical accreditations in line with Network and Telephony platforms.
  • Escalate to and work with vendors when required.
  • Setup and complete scheduled tasks when required.
  • Escalate potential service issues to Head of IT – as appropriate.
  • Escalate potential problem issues with Problem and Incident
  • Management as appropriate.
  • Recommend and deploy changes via the change management process when required.
  • Act as a role model for technical competence, helpfulness, facilitation of learning and teamwork.

Azure Architect

As the Cloud Platform Architect you will design platform solutions to align with business priorities and promote Azure platform services by providing thought leadership while enabling innovation. You will drive the adoption of cloud services and inspire customers to innovate using the Azure platform, enable the cloud engineering team to deliver architecture designs and provide overall technical architecture leadership and direction.

  • Collaborate with the Cloud Platform Product Leader and engineering to create the platform roadmap, collaborating with the architecture community
